Internet Marketing: How to Choose the Best Affiliate Program by Stephen Okoronkwo
Simply defined, an affiliate program is a system of internet marketing practice whereby an affiliate marketer is paid commission(s) by a web merchant for each customer they get via the effort of the affiliate. The commissions are paid based on an initial agreement by both parties. Each affiliate program differs from the other on the way commissions are earned and paid.
Meanwhile, affiliate marketing is an Internet-based marketing practice in which a business rewards one or more affiliates for each visitor or customer brought about by the affiliate's marketing efforts.
These days, there are thousands of affiliate programs on the web. Hence, selecting the best affiliate program(s) to promote is tasking. If you engage in promoting wrong affiliate programs, you can waste a lot of time, money and effort. As you may already know, not all affiliate programs are created equal. It is important that you choose the best ones for your situation.
Therefore, here are some of the factors that you need to put in to consideration in order for you to choose those affiliate programs that are sellable and profitable for you:
1) Consider affiliate programs with new product. When you sell product that is new and unique you can increase your chance of success as an affiliate marketer. This will enable you to grow with the program. Already existing affiliate programs may have a successful track record, but if they are not changing with the times they could cause your website to be stagnant. Rather, choose affiliate programs which are ever-evolving and expanding their products and services.
2) You need to find out if there is high demand for the product the web merchant is offering for sale. Focus your enquiry so as to know what type of people would be interested in it and you must have a clear idea on the method through which you will reach the people that want the product and how to lure them to buy.
3) The commission aspect is very important. Digital products such as e-books usually offer huge commissions of 50% and more. Don’t be carried away by the value of the percentage you will earn. Pay attention to the dollar value too. For instance, 50% of $10 is just $5 while 10% of $100 is $10
4) Imbibe the culture of promoting quality products at all times. This goes a long way in branding you to a certain degree. Remember, the quality of your product is reflection of who you are on the web. Always protect your online reputation no matter how hot and lucrative the product looks.
5) It is important that the affiliate program offers good tracking for the effort you are putting in so that you can see the statistics of your performance. By been able to track the number of visitors you send to each affiliate program and the number of sales that you make from it, you will accumulate enough data to compare your performance at all the programs and then dump those programs that are not profitable while you focus all your efforts on the ones that make you money. Tracking will also help you to determine the actual amount of commission earned.
6) Given the importance of niche marketing nowadays, endeavor to look for affiliate programs that are similar to something that is of interest to you. Apart from the fact that it will be fun, it will translate into more sales.
7) How available is the web merchant? You should be able to reach someone at the company if you have any questions related to the product you want to market. After all, if you don't know much about it, how then are you going to convince and sell these items to your prospects?
8) There should be a money-back guarantee for the product you are marketing. If the affiliate program web merchant doesn't offer this, it is advisable to look for something else to market.
9) Is the web merchant interested in working with affiliate-marketing generated ideas and concepts? There is no perfect system, as you engage in your marketing business you will occasionally come across questions, suggestions and new information on how to get the best of result in your product marketing. Being an affiliate marketer you are more directly involved with the customers, there must be a way of communicating these developments to the web merchant.
10) Always confirm that there is a physical address and contact info on the website.
11) Ask to know if the merchant have a good reputation with existing affiliates.

Every Entrepreneur and Angel Investor Should Read "Early Exits" by J. Basil Peters
Companies are getting sold early than ever before. Tech companies are often sold only one or two years from start up. This is happening now because the IPO market is dead, the Venture Capital model is broken and the fundamental structure of the American economy has changed dramatically.
Exits are the least understood part of investing and entrepreneurship. Very little has been written about exits - the emphasis is usually on starting, financing and growing technology companies. Almost all of the earlier books on exit strategies were for business owners who wanted to retire. Recently, there have been a number of books written about exit transactions for traditional venture capitalists. "Early Exits" is the first book about selling companies specifically written for entrepreneurs and angel investors.
Today, it's most likely a company will be sold without ever having an investment from a venture capitalist. This is happening because the traditional venture capital model is badly broken and because new technologies make it possible for entrepreneurs to build companies with far less capital than ever before.
Most people are surprised to learn that the median price of private companies that are sold is only about $15 million. The median price in most of the large databases is closer to $25 million, but that only includes the larger transactions where prices is disclosed.
Big companies have lots of cash on their balance sheets. They know they are not good at starting businesses or growing business from zero to $20 or 30 million in value. Large companies are much better at growing businesses from $ 20 million to $200 million in value. Many large companies are spending more on M&A than R&D. This has created an environment where companies are being sold earlier than ever before.
Never before has it been so easy for entrepreneurs to build valuable companies on so little capital, and to sell them so quickly for so much money. These trends have created a golden era for entrepreneurs.
"Early Exits" is about exit strategies that every entrepreneur and angel investor should be utilizing right from start up to maximize the chances of an early, profitable sale of their companies. Every company needs a clear exit strategy - right from founding. It doesn't have to be complicated. Good exit strategies are often only a few sentences long. The important thing is to have all of the shareholders aligned on the exit strategy.
"Early Exits" was written to help entrepreneurs and angel investors have more successful, more frequent and more profitable exits.

7 Steps To Personal Debt Free Living by Mark Walters
Personal debt is now at the highest level that it has been in history. Financial problems are the leading cause of divorce, depression and any other number of crushing personal problems. Imagine the weight that could be lifted off your shoulders should you be able to realize the dream of debt free living.
I'm deep in the middle of the mid-life years and until recently I've experienced living in almost constant debt. The pressure on my physical and mental health, relationships and emotions was immense and I can never go back and re-live those years. To help you avoid enduring the same pain that I did I am laying out the 7 steps (I won't say they are easy) to debt free living.
1. Realize you need to change. Keeping the same bad habits is going to keep producing the same problems repeating themselves.
2. Where Are You? Spend some time noting down your existing debts, all your current assets (house, car, etc), and how much money you have coming and going out every month.
3. How would you like your life to be? Be introspective and ask yourself some serious questions. Example questions being - What are my principles and values? What do I really want to get out of life? Whatever you answers are, keep focused on them and make every decision from here on around those goals.
4. What options do you have? Decisions present themselves everyday which affect both additional income and how your money is spent.
5. Choose your options. Evaluate the answers from step 4 and make the difficult decisions. Finding part-time work? Internet business? Turning off cable TV? Reduce your cell phone plan? These represent just a few examples of things you need to consider.
6. Create a plan. Now that you've chosen your options put a plan down on paper. This is the guide that you use to make day to day decisions that are necessary to meet your long term goals.
7. Stay focused. Measure your progress and find ways to reward yourself for small successes along the way. Make adjustments if you find any faults in your plan. You'll soon have financial freedom that that makes your old worries seem a lifetime away.
